The Committee has received an objection to the fast track of the name
change of uk.rec.boats.power to uk.rec.boats.motor on the grounds that
1) it sought to extend the scope of the group to encompass
matters which are currently on-topic in uk.rec.waterways;
2) there was negligible support for the renaming.

The Committee considers that the scope of the group is not being extended,
the charter being the same if you replace "power" by "motor". The only
effect is that people are less likely to make the mistake of thinking the
group is only about performance boats. It is recognized that some matters
will be on topic in both this group and in uk.rec.waterways, but that has
always been the case.

The Committee also considers that sufficient support was expressed by
users of the existing group.

The objection is therefore not upheld.
