Just what "family values" are the Democrats trying to keep away?
In the simplest terms welfare policies and the tax code reward single
parents and discourage marriage. Single mothers are punished for
having a man in the house.
The other problem is the "all or nothing" approach to welfare. It
discourages people from working.

The "war on poverty" was a huge failure. There are more people in
poverty than there were in the early 60s and some have a couple of
generations of their family who have never had meaningful employment..

That is not true, per capita.

It is ironic that the same chart Kevin posts to tell us how successful
the war on poverty is was used to prove the opposite on the Wiki page.

The poverty rate was falling before we declared war on it and after
the government tried to "fix" it, the poverty rate has been stagnant
for almost a half century.in spite of throwing the best part of a
trillion dollars at it .

The welfare policies have proved they are only capable of keeping
10-15% of people in inescapable poverty. It certainly is not showing
progress.

I don't know about Kevin, but where did I EVER say that the war on
poverty was or is successful?? All I said was that your position that
poverty per capita was greater in the '60's than it is now was
horse****, and it is.
