Why on earth would they call them assault rifles?
The so-called semi auto assault rifles are easily converted to full
auto with pieces and parts you can buy on the internet.
And so is a Ruger 10/22. What's your point? When is the last time a
fully-automatic rifle was used in a mass-shooting?
