I've never seen such a bunch of back-biting, and backstabbing amongst
adults since this place went to the dogs a couple years ago. It used
to be a fine boating group then it turned into a another
run-of-the-mill political hash forum. Then. came the insults from the
frequent subscribers here.
What happens to grown people anyhow? Phrases flying around like 'he's
a pedophile' 'he started it' 'you're a liar', 'your son's a drunk'
'your a pot head', 'he's a racist' 'he's a liberal' 'your a
right-wing, religious kook/ christian fundie'' you do what FOX' tell
you to do' 'you're endangering your daughter' ' your a bunch of
homophobes' 'you couldn't get a job if you had to' you couldn't get
into college so you went to the military'
blah, blah, blah.....
I don't know why this is going on. There's a lot of opposing views
here concerning politics. I guess that's fine, but does that mean it's
OK to have verbal ****ings contest on maturity levels that wouldn't
impress an 8 year old? Some here may think so, and I may be blind or
gullible, but I can't see it.
I've had pleasnt conversations with JohnH, Don White, Loogie, Greg,
BAR,Scott Ingersoll, Wayne, Rich, Bob Puharic, Tom Francis, and a few
others in quite the past. This isn't counting a host of great email
exchanges with the same companies. I've never been disappointed with
the personal friendships I've made due to rec.boats. In fact, people
can be a lot of fun when you get to know them personally. I just have
never seen why the same people would get together daily for a USENET
jousting match.
Doesn't this ever get tiresome?
Oh, and concerning people 'missing' derogatory posts, where maybe they
'conveniently' didn't see someone insulting another? That can happen.
I don't live on here some 12 to 24 hours a day and am becoming more
frequently vacant because I find myself wanting to do a lot more
productive things than waste my life on here so, I don't see EVERY
post that's made, or open every thread that's started. And I'm sure
there are others who don't either. And if I do,I can do one of two
things, dive into the fray... or ignore it and move on.
I suppose in summary I'm just saying, can't y'all treat each with some
civility? If so the I'm sure rec.boats (if not the world) would be a
lot better place.
Later.
Simple solution, Tim. Talk your out of control righty friends here into
behaving in a civil fashion and the atmosphere will improve. There are
only two or three left of center *regular* posters here, and most of the
rest are far to the right and are upset that we couple of lefties won't
buy into the porridge they are selling, so they get snarky about it.
Naturally, we respond, but we are outnumbered at least 10 to one, eh?
You'd think by now they'd figure out they aren't going to assimilate us.
This newsgroup is pretty much cleaned up for me, because I've put most
of the right-wing assholes into my filter bin, from which they will
never emerge. This means I don't even see at least 90% of their posts.
So that not only cuts down on their vomitus, it cuts down on the number
of posts to read. A real win-win. I do keep Ingersoll out of the bin
because I think he out of control and potentially dangerous and it might
prove important to keep an eye on him.
You want a better newsgroup? Don't whine about it: make it happen. You
know what to do. Everyone likes you.

Out of respect for Tim's post, I am painfully biting my tongue.
Harry will torment you until you are forced to unbite your tongue.
Tick...tick...tick ;-)
