It is typical that abused women don't press charges the first few times

they are abused. It usually takes a hell of a beating for this to

happen. Well-documented in "the literature."

The father would, if Z really threatened him with a gun. Chances are good that it was a made-up claim by the known liar Mrs. Z. The father didn't want to perjure himself.
