Only if the addict *wants* help. In many, if not most cases they are
in denial that they even have a problem, particularly with alcoholism.
The booze really screws up their ability to think in any rational way.

Entering a treatment center for detox, rehab and therapy is voluntary,
except in very difficult to obtain court ordered cases.
