If the police were doing there job they would send some plain clothes
cops down these streets once in a while (armed and with adequate
backup of course). I don't believe in letting criminals rule the

There are at least three city police stations within a few blocks of
that area, and a Yale police substation nearby, and I'm sure the entire
area is well-patrolled. But that doesn't mean every part of every area
of the city has a police officer on the spot every minute of the day.

What most cities need in their densely populated or commercial areas are
more police officers *in uniform* and on foot.


They have lost control of these areas to the point that it is not safe
to have cops on foot.
DC has more cops per square foot than any other place in the world and
they can't hold all of the neighborhoods.
