Mrs.E. dropped her iPhone 4 into the pool a couple of weeks ago. It
sank like a rock and is not waterproof.

Didn't bother it at all. Still works. Surprised the heck out of me.



Wow. I read the occasional "horror story" on one of the apple
discussion
board regarding "dampened iPhones,"and most of them do not end well.
She lucked out.

There are some supposedly waterproof, highly impact resistant cases out
there for iPhones. I have an impact resistant case, but it sure as
hell isn't waterproof.


I saw a couple waterproof impact resistant cases in REI a while back.
$75!


I've seen the waterproof cases, too. So far I haven't dropped a cell
phone into the drink or...the toilet.


Since you don't own a boat it's less of a concern.
