elected public officials.

Who are lobbied by the same unions they negotiate with and who will
endure the wrath of those same unions at the polls if they actually
argue with any of the union demands.
In the case of some public service unions,, the union negotiator may
even be paid by the city.

Here in the sf Bay Area, BART the semi rapid transit, is going on strike
for a 23% raise over the next 3 years. They already are among the highest
paid transit workers in the nation. Average driver makes $73k salary with
an additional $66k in overtime. Plus fully paid retirement and $93 a month
for a medical plan no matter the size of the family. The SEIU leader has
already declared WAR in those words.

SF should do like other places and pave over the tracks and call it a
bike path.
