My personal favorite in government and insurance stupidity is in making
federal flood insurance available to property owners who live right
along the coastal shorelines on the East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico.
You just *know* what is going to happen there, sooner or later, and
perhaps more than once. Shoreline development should not be encouraged
in areas known to welcome hurricanes.

I agree completely. This is just another welfare program for the rich.
They should also look at cities and towns that are built in flood
plains or below sea level.
They should have never let New Orleans be rebuilt without barging in
15-20 feet of dirt. That would have been a lot better use of federal
money than paying for the next flood. The people in the Mississippi
river headwaters could have used the work too.
If Bush had done that, the GOP might have done better in the rust
belt

Do you recall the name Tillie Fowler? She was a long time U.S.
Representative from the Jax area, and made it her lifelong struggle to
get more and more shoreline on the ocean and ICW be eligible for
federal flood insurance. She's not the only congresscritter who did
this, of course, but she was *always* involved in doing that sort of
thing for developers.

I thought New Orleans should have been razed, and then rebuilt north
of Lake Pontchartrain. We all know it is going to be underwater *again*.

Are you talking about making the levees 20 feet higher? Good
infrastructure work!

It will be fine if union labor isn't involved.
