Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I've been a
participant in this newsgroup for over 18 years. Got to know many
people by their "handle" and several up live and in person. It used
to be a very good newsgroup .... one of the oldest and best in usenet.
People went out of their way to help others with problems or questions
with or about their boats .... and even problems unrelated to boats.
Non-boating posts were still interesting, informative and often
hilarious. Obviously things have changed. Now it has become a
sparing ground for personal attacks and insults. Not trying to sound
self-righteous but there doesn't appear to be any chance rec.boats
will ever return to it's former glory with the attitudes of many of
the people here who still subscribe.
