ballasts interfering with your radio gear?

Doesn't seem to be an issue. I use my SSB radio almost every day and
it is more sensitive to RFI than most things. I have a battery
charger made by a well respected marine electronics company that is
far worse. The GPS units and VHF radio seem almost impervious to
anything. I have noticed that the microwave oven knocks out my WiFi
repeater however.

That would make me a little nervous Wayne. The door gaskets and
perforated metal "screen" in the microwave window are supposed to
block any microwave radiation from the oven. If there's enough
leakage to knock out your wi-fi signal I think I'd be thinking of
replacing the microwave.
I am on a computer sitting about 7 feet from a 1200 watt microwave.
My computer connection to our home wi-fi router isn't the strongest
connection in the world because the router is located in a room quite
a distance away. But even with a weak signal the microwave has no
affect on the connection.
