The constitution is neither a right wing or a left wing document. It
is the best considered compromise from a group of really smart guys,
hammered out in an attempt to strike the right balance between federal
control and state control, and individual liberties vs law and order.
The fact that it still survives more or less intact today is a
testament to the wisdom and thought that went into the original
effort. Attempts to put a modern day political spin on the
constitution are a corruption of the ideals that it is based on.


I fully understand that the constitution isn't a right wing or left wing
document. That's why I can't understand why so many try to make it so.
It is what it is and in it's conception was to rein in the states and be
able to tax interstate commerce.
