Put 'Huntley Meadows Park, Alexandria, VA' into Mapquest. Look just north - that's the golf course.
The park has all kinds of trees and water. But, the folks are not allowed to trap the beaver.
Stupid.
I guess my question would be... were the beavers in the area before the golf course was built??
I lived right across the river from there for 38 years and I never
heard about beavers anywhere near DC.
The first beaver I ever saw was in upstate New York.
We had them around Ft Belvior. Huntly Meadows Park had several. Mason Neck National Wildlife
Refuge had several and they even had an eagle population in the 70's.
The eagles are back at Mason Neck. We saw one 'fishing' in the Pohick Bay when we were camping there
weekend before last. Beautiful sight, but the eagle didn't get the fish.
