Your Ruger (Mk1?) leaves the striker cocked after a shot as did
virtually all SAs before the Glock.

A Glock pulls the striker back and slides a blocking bar out of the
way as you pull the trigger.

What firearms do you own?

You a cop? ;-)

I have an assortment of SA pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns.

I'm thinking of ordering one of these:

Ever used one?

My KP90 Ruger came with one but I don't use it. It is really just a
thumb saver if you have a weak thumb.
I do have a 10-22 mag loader
That is pretty useful for the evil high capacity magazines.
You dump in a full box of ammo, push the button 50 times then rock and
roll.

OK, thanks. How about these - ever used 'em?

Snap caps are a good way to learn how to load and unload your mags and
cycle your new gun until you get familiar with it.

The mag loaders are a pain in the ass.
