Default Raytheon Fishfinder transducer problem

Thanks for the replies. I'll check all of the connections first to see if
there are bent pins or something. If I don't see an obvious problem I'll
probably search for a new transducer. I want to do it while the boat is out
of the water. Once I put it in my slip it will be there until November.

I bought a used 24' boat 4 years ago and I had a Raytheon L365 Fishfinder
installed with a transom mounted transducer. That setup work very good. I
purchased a new 21' boat 3 years ago. I asked the dealer to install a the
same Raytheon fishfinder but they install a L265 with a in the hull
transducer. For the last 3 seasons I have had constant problem with false
readings on the L265. For example I could be in 80' of water but it would
indicate that I was in 3' and sound the shallow water alarm. I decided I

do
not want to deal with that for another season. I believe the tranducer is
the problem. In an attempt to save money on buying and installing a new
fishfinder system, can I just switch to a transom mounted transducer
connected to my L265 Fishfinder? I would appreciate any other suggestions.

Thanks, Eddie
