Raytheon Fishfinder transducer problem
In your case I'd more likely say that the bent power pin was preventing the
rest of the pins from getting a good seal (no walrus jokes!).
Definately check you rconnection....maybe noise was getting in there
(shouldn't being a DC system though...hmm...)

Yes, you can use a transom mounted transducer. I have a L265 and it came
with a transom mounted transducer.
I was getting a lot of the same kind of false readings and just accepted
them, thinking air bubbles were on the transducer, etc. My friend removed
the fish finder one day, thinking I didn't leave it in my bow rider while
it
was parked in storage. (I do.) When I went to mount it the next day, one
of
the 12 volt pins was bent. Trying to straighten it, I broke it. For $45,
Raytheon replaced the card the pins are soldered to and they also replaced
the touch pad. It works like new! So, it may be the 12 volt power
connection.
