I've replaced all 'traditional' lights with MR16 halogen fittings
bought from my local DIY store. Many fewer amps per lux. 20w for
reading spots used at about 1m range; 35w for reading spots used
at 2m, and 50w for saloon and galley floodlights.

However, I note that most chandleries sell fittings which take
the small two pin bulbs. Yes they're smaller, and a lot more
expensive. Surprise.
