Low voltage lighting on boat question
Hi,
on or in boats those lamps are not used often, as I know. Most bulbs on
ships habe other sockets, some of them are very special.
Halogen bulbs with that MR 16 socket are rather good for ship lightening,
special inside a boat. They give a lot more light than conventional light
bulbs. I´m using them for lightning the cabin, for reading lamps....
There are adapters availible, that fit modern MR16 bulbs into older sockets,
but I think, changing the whole lamp will be best solution.
Wattage depends on use of the lamp. High wattage means decharging batteries
in a hurry. 20 watts will be enough for most lightning inside the boat.
Very interesting are light bulbs using LED technology, fitting into that MR
16 socket. They consume low power, habe a very long lifetime, but they are
rather expencive.

are 12 volt MR16 bulbs used on (or in) boats (yachts) very often. If so,
what
wattage is usually used... 20 watt, 35 watt, 50 watt??
