They sell it to the highest bidder and who knows what that bidder
wants it for, but you can bet it is to try to sell you something.

On the other hand that is a target rich environment for hackers who
want to steal something. None of these places seem that secure to me.
Most have been hacked on some level.

You do realize the DOD has complete control of the data, right?

I am not sure about DoD but I believe DoJ and NSA looks at damned near
anything they want and NSA wants to see it all.

Yeah, I suppose computers and people look at every piece of data that
moves in the U.S. every second. Kind of like when everyone thought the
government was listening to every phone call in the U.S.
