*I* wouldn't have "found myself in Zimmerman's shoes," because I
wouldn't have been alarmed or suspicious about a black kid carrying a
soft drink and a bag of chips walking through my neighorhood, and if I
had said anything at all, it would have been "howdy" or "hello," which
is what I sometimes say to all the kids I see walking in my neighborhood.
