Breakaway Oil Rig, Filled With Fuel, Runs Aground
By HENRY FOUNTAIN NYT

An enormous Shell Oil offshore drilling rig ran aground on an island in
the Gulf of Alaska on Monday night after it broke free from tow ships in
rough seas, officials said.

Tough news for Shell stock holders but not much else.

Oh? Is the outcome clear?

There is not a significant chance of a big oil spill and that is what
we would be worried about.
With a maximum of 12,000 gallons of diesel if all the tanks were
topped off a total loss of the platform might be troubling but that is
not likely and the tanks may be that full.
The reality is this will just be an extended outage for a very
expensive asset. The price of unleaded may go up a penny for a while.

But Harry was hoping for the Shell Valdez to occur just like the Exxon
Valdez a number of years ago.
