The power of a large breaking wave is not to be under estimated.
Wow. A 45 footer! Wayne was it a rogue wave or could they have
detected it coming?
There was a small craft advisory out that day.. (7 to 9 feet seas)..
The winds were shifting from the NW to N. @16-18mph.. gusts to 23
mph.. right around the time of capsizing..

(airport ~1mile west of inlet.. )
That inlet can be a real pain, today, I navigated it with an outgoing tide and winds
driving waves (the exact opposite direction) into the inlet. Took a real beating, but had
no choice other than taking 6 to 7 foot closely spaced waves head on.. (very little room
for maneuver in that inlet)..
