My oldest son lives on the 31st floor of a lower Manhattan high rise
apartment building that still has no elevators, water, heat or power.
It's not easy but he and his wife are getting along OK and walking to
work. I'm in touch with him just about every day by phone or EMAIL.
He reports that progress is being made, albeit slowly. Slow is
understandable since that area has very old infrastructure and his
building had 3 feet of water in the lobby and a totally flooded
basement. He says that crime and looting have been minimal and that
all of the emergency service groups are doing everything they can.

I completely believe you. Manhattan, and the central, most visible parts of the city and affected areas are getting the most attention.

However, your son has virtually no visibility of what is really going on in the boroughs, and in areas of NJ. Manhattan is tiny compared to the devastated area. My friend's family in NJ are telling her first hand that they are seeing rampant looting, that local people are getting little to no gov assistance, that friends in NYC that they in touch with are seeing crime waves, have no food, etc. This information is just as valid as the story from your son.

This is precisely the story that our MSM is not reporting. And they won't, they are the tail wagging the dog.

Glad that your son and his family are OK.
