Looks like Don and JPS successfully convinced the guy not to post here

He seemed too sensible to waste his time in the company of you and your ilk.
Sensible? Me? That's a laugh. You do have a point though. There's an
awful lot of snarkiness, insulting, threats and splitting of hairs to
wade through to find an interesting post or two, not that my standards
are that high. But what is the point of reading through a hundred or
more posts to find a good boating discussion?
We're here to help. Give us your phone number and we'll call you when
someone starts an interesting racing shell or ice-boat thread.
Oh, ok. 666-6666, extension 666. Just ask for NATAS.
Seriously, my humble opinion is that the seemingly endless snarkiness
and insulting turns off new posters and chills conversation. It sure
makes it difficult to read a thread, at least for me, because when I
come across examples of what I've mentioned, I tend to stop reading the
thread.
This morning, one poster here whose ID I won't mention, apparently
wished another poster were either dead or sick.
Well, that surely entices decent newbies to hang around, doesn't it?
He's not the only example of being nasty to others, either.
My interests in boating go beyond ice boats. Mainly I am interested in
wind or self powered boats, but I like all sorts of boats and I have
other interests too. Treating other people like **** though isn't among
them.
Well, you've got rec.boats...building, cruising, electronics, kayak, marketplace, paddle, paddle
touring, paddle whitewater, racing, racing power, and sailing. One or more of those may be of more
interest. But, it doesn't hurt to do as one poster suggested, use a filter here and there.
There used to be a lot of sailing discussed on 'cruising'. Don't know if it still is or not. Could
be it's become a cess pool like this place. A few folks just won't quit.
