Yup, we had Coyotes in Essex for years but the DEP and everyone else
denied it until some hot shot had his wife and kid stood up face to face
out there hiking on a trail. Gotta' tell you, I encountered on one day
coming out of a friends house on the lake outside of town, and the one
thing I noticed was the thing was probably a foot taller than I even
imagined... Not too proud to admit, I almost **** my pants getting into
my topless jeep and getting the hell out of there. Now we are getting
reports of fisher cats and even a bear sighting, officials of course are
denying it...
Here in NJ, we've got plenty of coyotes. I see one or two most every
year. Seeing them is a treat, but hearing them howl is eerie. Getting
back to cougars, I've heard from responsible people that they've been
seen in Litchfield County.
We've got them in Alexandria, VA, also. A little park a few blocks away is home to one (or more).
Hopefully they'll develop an appetite for Canada geese, squirrels, and stray cats.
