That's because TracPhone uses Verizon's (and other) networks to supply their coverage. They don't have their own network. They buy time from the major players.



Yup, couldn't talk to my wife for four days except when sprint managed
to sneak out an email, once every few hours... The guy I rode up to the
concession pulled out his 19 dollar tracphone and had 4 bars!!! LOL!
