Over the winter I'm pulling the boat out of the slip for a bit, and am going to set it up for dual batteries (already have the second battery as a spare, just need the switch and cables). I'm a lake boater, and have always wanted a fresh water wash-down pump.
How does that setup work? I know I'll need a pump, wiring and hoses, but I want to just pull lake water from a pickup.
Where does that typically mount.
Underwater
Wow, didn't think of that...
how are they configured, etc.
I would probably attach a pickup screen to a pipe then attach the pipe
to the engine bracket or something else. But I would be reluctant to
drill into the pontoon itself. Select a pump rated for washdown duty,
hopefully with an automatic pressure switch.
The center pontoon has about a 2x2 "well" in the rear that fills with water at rest and drains while running. While typing this it occurs to me that would be the ideal place to put the water pickup. It would be protected there.
