Too bad you can't run multi-gigabit on your CAT 5

My LAN is running one gigabit now, over 3x the fastest WiFi speed you
can get.
Back in my IBM days they told us you could really get more like 3GB on
copper if everything was conditioned right.
The 1GB comes from using all 8 wires in the CAT 5 instead of only 4
like 10/100. They still can't count on installers to properly make up
the keystones to fully exploit the cable.

We moved into a formerly IBM building with the TR and TP wires
piggybacked. We ran phone and low speed data (19.2) on the TR wires and
ran TCP/IP on the two 8 pair and sometimes ran phone and TCP/IP. We
could fit two people in each office. IBM sure did have a funny system
for sizing offices. None of the offices were the same size.
