I suppose in your mind polluting our waterways is okay?

It seems to be when it is the DC government doing it.

I was amazed that 50 years after the feds decided to clean up the
river that it is still so bad. I really believed they were making
measurable progress but from what I am reading, sadly, that is not
true.

What went wrong?

The DC government still has not fixed a 19th century sewer system.
When it rains the storm drains that share pipe with the sewers
overload the system and they dump raw effluent from 53 different
spillways directly into the Potomac or it's tributaries.
That is what WSSC admits to in the link John posted.
Then you have the nutrient load from the Blue Plains plant when things
are working perfectly.

They have banned summer fertilizer sales here for a nutrient problem
that pales by comparison

I suppose you could just say it is a city problem and any time you put
that many toilets in that small an area you overload nature's
mechanism for dealing with it.

It would be interesting to see the NPDES permits for other big cities
to see how they are doing.,

All of that takes MAJOR money, and the right wing doesn't want the
government to spend.

-------------------------------
Bull****! DC has had leftist government for years, and the Dems
controlled
Congress for a couple decades. DC did not clean up their act then either.

Has nothing to do with the FACT that it takes major money, and the right
wing doesn't want the government to spend. Furthermore, it's too big of
a project for DC to take on alone.

-------------------------------------------------------------
then why did not the Democrat controlled Congress clean up DC during their
40 years of control? If you blame the right wing, then the left wing gets
even more blame as they controlled both DC and Congress for a lot longer
time.
