The John D Leitch is seen downbound (northbound) in Lock 8 of the
Welland Canal (Port Colborne Ontario Canada) on July 22, 2009.

Lock 8 is a control lock or guard lock. It is designed to move ships
from the level of Lake Erie to the level of the Welland Canal.

The picture was taken from Bridge 21 at the north end of Lock 8. The
bridge would lift shortly after I took the picture.
