Protectionism will not work. If you double the cost of autos to keep
union dogs like Government Motors alive, then far fewer people will buy
them. Sure, you would get more for each one but far fewer buy so you
could see less revenue. Pricing elastically will not allow
protectionism to work.

Another slight problem, USA can't build its own computers, TVs and a
long list of other things. The original north american made PC was
$9000 in 1980 dollars. About $25K today. How many are going to pay
$25,000 for a laptop or desktop PC?

Fact is protectionism could drive USA to third world status pretty
darned quick.

As for not wanting to compete, I agree. USA has given up competing, but
irrationally expects the standard of living. Isn't going to happen.
The only way out is to compete. Lose the envy, greed, entitlement and
government corruption, roll up the sleeves and become lean, mean and
productive machine USA was once known for.

No nation was ever built on bull**** and corruption. But many have
fallen from grace due to bull**** and corruption.

Another reason why government can't fix the problems as government is a
major part of the problem. Through political greed, the 0bama types
prey and foster ignorance for their political gain.
