Default best anchorage on Anacapa= Frenchie's cove ?

Frenchies is often uncomfortable and has junk on the bottom, but lots of people
anchor there. I have also anchored at East Fish Camp on the other
side-comfortable, good holding, but not much to see. I would go to Smugglers on
Santa Cruz for overnight anchoring if I were at Anacapa.

I was hoping to hear the answer to this myself, and am surprised that no one
has answered. I'm not very experienced with the northern Channel Islands.

Most the cruising guides will tell you that Frenchies is the most popular
anchorage on Anacapa, and also the anchorage with the highest number of
accidents! There is no safe anchorage there in a Santa Ana, but it has been
suggested that the area around Cat Rock offers a little shelter.

What about heading to Santa Cruz instead? There's much better protection
there than at Anacapa. The diving is spectacular at both islands. Goldfish
Bowl is a popular, easy dive spot at Anacapa.

I've spent more time on dive boats than on sail boats in the northern
islands. Catalina is closer for us. I'm DYING to get out to Santa Cruz on
a sailboat myself - beautiful place!

I've paddled around Anacapa in my sea kayak but we hauled out--
literally onto the dock for our "anchorage." I know folks have been
screwed by Santa Ana's when they thought they had a choice spot.

What's the best summertime anchorage spot on Anacapa. . . for fishing,
snorkling, and such ?
