Bought a pair of Acorn slippers for my mother a few years ago when
they were still made in Maine....
They show almost no wear but one went missing recently.
I figured this was a chance to get something practical for her 97th
birthday next month, so I went into the same outdoor gear shop to buy
a new pair.
Imagine my surprise to find out they are now Made in China and still
cost more than I spent last time.
Someone is making lots of money on the 'global economy'.
Sure... I could have ordered a pair online from the US cheaper but she
needed then ASAP.

When someone is 97 and in a nursing home, you are thankful that you
can get them something they need and will use every day... rather than
something that will have to be stored due to minimal room in their
clothes closet. Besides almost $60.00 (inc tax) for a pair of Made in
China slippers isn't cheap in my world.
If she didn't need them right away ( due to one disappearing at the
nursing home) I would have checked out LL Bean.
Yes, I'm sure $60 is alot in your world, judging from the trash in your

Aw, he's just making excuses for buying chinese junk and crying about
everyone else that does it. That's the Progressive way...
Ship his own mother off to a nursing home so he or his equally drunken
son won't have to deal with her, then buy her a lousy pair of slippers
for her birthday. Suckling Don is quite the guy, eh?
Ah, if the old lady wants slippers, get 'em. But to spend so much time
making excuses for buying them straight from China while crying that the
US is selling out... It's the progressive way, "do as I say, cause if
you all do, I don't have to"... snerk
