OH, I forgot, there is a large growing group of

You

Not me, brother. Personally, apart from cars, I buy everything I can
from local, regional or US manufacturers, in that order.
I remain in high tech and I don't see anything coming out of China
that rivals what we do, unless they're copying our competitors, which
I wouldn't doubt.
So, you're still in the automobile business? What happens when the US
pushes the market towards electric? Will you still be in the game?
No, not the auto manufacturing business or supply base...that's half of what
it was 20 years ago and won't come back. Autos in the US will be
predominantly Asian based upon the populations propensity not to give a
flying F**K about their income opportunities. Electric's will be Asian or
Indian (Tata will have cars in the U.S. soon). Don't fight it - it's too
late, and a result of the populations buying (and voting) habits. The
rulers of the U.S. should take E Pluribus Unum off the national symbol and
replace it with "where's all my free ****?"
Americans just might surprise you once the message gets through..
They're still watching the boob tube thinking they'll be rich one day
but there's a wake up call coming. The occupy Wall Street is a pimple
that's grown into an outbreak and the message is being heard.
The only real change that can happen here that'd make a difference is
campaign finance reform and banning all forms of lobbying. That, and
a swift upper cut to every idiot who shells out money for cheap ****
from Walmart and Target.
I don't agree with the "where's all my free ****" assumption. We talk
about equal opportunity in the US but it's not there. We fund schools
but not on a level playing field. We have some of the best higher
education in the world but we're educating the world's kids instead of
our own. China is pumping out 3 times the number of engineering grads
while we argue about evolution and teaching creationism.
It's not the "give me something for free" that's killing us, it's the
wilfull ignorance of religion, lack of respect for education, trade
imbalances that have gone on too long, China taking advantage of it's
position with the US and keeping its currency artificially low, US
companies rushing to cheap labor markets for short term gains.
It's going to crash and maybe some people will start being honest.
So, you live in Singapore and sell wind turbines abroad.
