That is why we live on the west coast. The east coast of Florida is

Yes! The last time I went to the east coast of Florida, there were more
northern accents than southern!

Since when is Cuban a "northern" accent?

"Cuban"? Most Cubans speak Spanish. Many Cubans also speak English and
other languages. I'll have to ask my Cuban friends if they speak "Cuban."

Note...as with many Carib, Central and South American countries where
Spanish is the predominant language, there are minor pronunciation and
other differences. But...Cubans and Mexicans, for example, have no
problems understanding each other immediately. They all even understand
*my* Spanish.

I happen to know quite a large number of Cubans and Cuban-Americans up
here and in the Miami area. I try to insist we converse in Spanish so I
can improve my meager knowledge of their native language.

Yeah, sure, we believe you.
