Damn, I didn't know that. That explains a lot of the problems with
our infrastructure. Maybe we
should give union workers more money.

Might be true, but I suspect it isn't and you are just trolling,
otherwise you would have mentioned a source.

Look at the abstract of the new Doctor's dissertation. Are you calling
her misinformed, or worse, a liar like her husband.

Sadly, substance abuse is far worse among non-unionized construction
workers, most of whom work on projects where employees are not subject
to random drug tests.

It has been known for many years that a substantial percentage of
construction workers abuse substances. A lot but not all of this is a
result of a need to self-medicate. Construction workers sustain a lot of
back, leg, muscular type injuries during their work years, and these
take a toll. For some workers, self-medication becomes the only avenue
for pain relief. This is not a country where an injured worker gets
adequate compensation for work-related injuries and illnesses, or even
reasonable access to retraining.

The purpose of my wife's research was not to point out that construction
workers abuse substances, but to explore the barriers they encounter to
seeking proper treatment for their abuse problems. It is one hell of a
document, and is being considered for publication in a professional journal.

Now, about your wife's educational and professional accomplishments,
flajim...Are there any?
