Looks like the Washington monument got some pretty good cracks in it's

I would not doubt the cracks were already there and the quake just shook
them loose.
But not sure I would want to be too close to it when she goes.
Some better picks and details.

Maybe if the right wing would be willing to maintain our
infrastructure, including funding national parks and monuments, this
wouldn't have happened.
The monument was restored in 1996 Clinton must have cut corners on the
restoration.
Infrastructure, LOL... The "shovel ready" projects were a joke, even
the few that did get done. We have three in particular here that are
just nuts. All three (three towns) were obviously projects that could
not get funded, but got funded so the money would not be lost. Anybody
who has worked for a town knows you have to spend every penny you get
each fiscal year so as not to lose it next time.
First in our town, there is a street that runs about 3/8 of a mile
between two main roads and runs near the High School. They put 4 brick
crosswalks there, They are all bumpy, and there is no reason for them.
Two of them go nowhere at all, lead to empty fields, another to a
house, and another to an apartment complex. They spend the whole
summer ripping up and doing this project, 30 some odd guys, huge
equipment, screwed up traffic near the high school all summer, oh, and
this tore up the brand new street they just redid last season...when
they could have painted crosswalks in a half day...
In the next town over they put an island down a main stretch of road
where interstate 84 drops off. Half the businesses on that side of the
road are hurting, one shut down within a month (gas station/conv
store). Again, this is a overdone system of islands and lights, u
turns, trees, and signs... It's not even really an intersection, the
whole area could have been brought more under control with an extra
stop light...
In the next town up, it's a way overdone traffic circle with cut
granite curbs, and all kinds of landscaping.. This is a 5 corners out
in the middle of tobacco country, a total waste.
None of these projects "saved or created any job", just the same old
town guys doing the same old shuffle... Next year they will be back to
the business of the town.. Collecting leaves, sucking out storm drains
etc. Only difference is they will ask for another (unfunded) full time
union guy or two because they "fell so far behind this year" snerk
Yup, 'shovel ready'.. Just about a nonsensical as every dollar
"creating" a dollar forty for the economy... LOL!
Yep, we sure got screwed on that one. Tell me, are you better off now
than you were when the Democrats took over congress or the Whitehouse?
I don't know anybody that is...
