Avon Hypalon inflatables - looking for a cheaper Hypalon paint and forever glue
I've tried that in past years with fast Sikaflex - it works OK - but
both products degrade in the UV-sunlight. Also, constant immersion
seems to be a problem also.

Hi,
Well I have tried most glues out there with a real bad hole under the
rubrail and none worked. Till another boater told me about this great
little item, 5200 fast set. I laid out the tube and sanded the surface
outside, and sanded the patches (2) on the correct side. When I had glued
with the 'normal' glues the inside patch always stuck to itself. I cleaned
the patches and tube about 3 times to make sure nothing was present. This
time I slipped the patch in with thread thru the center and let it hand
inside, using a mixing stick I spread 5200 around the hole on the inside
thickly, and coated the outside a little less thickly. I pulled the inside
patch up to the hole, laid the tube down flat, cut the string, placed the
outside patch on and pressed firmly from the center out. Cleaned up the
outside and left a small bead around the patch. Place a 20# weight on the
patch and left it there for 24 hours. Next day I aired up the dingy to full
pressure and checked the patch and it was holding. And it has held for
about 3 months, not a long time but way longer than the other glues I used.
FWIW.

I think they've always been Hypalon - you must be thinking of another
brand.

Are you sure Avons are Hypalon? I thought they were PVC, and thus, POS'.
Nothing lasts forever, but PVC is especially bad in sunlight.

Any suggestions - the glues I've tried - both 1 and 2 part - give up
after a few years of constant use. Even Avon can't seem to get the
Avon name to stick on.
Also looking to paint over some ragged seams.
