I guess that the question is what kind of canoe did you build? A
traditional canoe is covered with canvas to keep the water out.

Fiberglass, whether epoxy or polyester do not have a great deal of
ultra-violet resistance and should be covered with something giving
ultra-violet protection if the boat is kept for long periods out of
doors.
