I have no interest in preventing them from saying nearly anything they
want. Whatever they say shouldn't go unanswered, however.

In this country some of what the so-called religious conservatives say
leads to the death and serious physical or emotional injury or both of
those who do not believe as they do. The way religion is practiced by
some in this country, it is nothing more than hate speech.

Almost every time I hear a speaker invoke the phrase, "the bible says,"
or "Jesus says," I figure that absolute bull**** is about to be heard.
That's almost. I recently attended a lecture by a truly "holy" man who
has devoted his life to helping victims of wars and natural disasters,
and does so without trying to "sell" religion. He quotes the bible and
Jesus in the way they should be quoted.
