$50 for a light bulb?

Scott, with all due respect, energy efficiency is something we should
all be interested in. It turns out that high efficiency bulbs,
especially LEDs, are a good long term investment. Yes, they cost
more, and yes, they still have a few rough edges, but over the useful
life of the bulb the cost per hour is a lot lower. That should be of
interest to anyone who is thrifty. Costs will drop as volume builds
and the technology improves. It's already happening.
Until you can find a way to prevent your guests from stealing these high
dollar light bulbs from you when they visit the won't be cost effective.
Imagine as your guests leave your house after a party the house is dark,
you can't walk through and clean up because all of the $50 LED light
bulbs have been taken as party favors.
Yes, I can imagine that when *your* guests leave. Perhaps you need to
make upgrades in your circle of friends. :)
