Just got back from today's Shuttle launch this afternoon. *From 6
miles away it makes a lot of noise! *Unfortunately. there was some
cloud cover, so we didn't get to see the SRB's separate, but it was
still fun. *Only one more launch left. *See it while you can.
The founder of the company lives in Port Orange in the same flying
community that John Travolta lived in... until he bought his 707. *He
gave us a golf cart tour and bought dinner last night. *Very nice
place.
Washed all the love bugs off the front of the 'vette and put her up.
1st road trip in her, sweet ride.
On topic? *Lots of boats, causeways, bridges, and water. *And of
course, Florida.
What's not to like? *We were docked in Miami last night and had hoped
we might catch a glimpse of the launch this morning but no luck - too
much cloud cover to the north and too far away. *We did catch a night
launch from Titusville two years ago and that was pretty spectacular.
Beautiful weather today as we cruised north up the beaches. *Caught a
smallish bonito just south of Palm Beach Inlet, steaked it out, and
are now in the process of broiling it for dinner. *Smells delicious.
Biggest surprise to me was the sound. I had always assumed that the
crackling and popping noise you hear when seeing vidoe of a lauch was
the microphone element being overwhelmed, much like a speaker cone
that is being driven too hard. Nope, that's just how they sound!
Enjoy your cruise, I'm sure you're having fun.
