Went out yesterday with an old buddy to fish the ICW creeks north of the

Any size to the reds? I've heard via the rumor mill that they are a
really nice year class - in the 10/15 lb range. A friend of mine was
fishing off the Battery in Charleston from shore using grass shrimp
and was nailing specs right and left - decent size too - 4/5 lbs.
He has the perfect boat for inshore fishing hereabouts, a
Carolina Skiff with a 90 hp Honda and a trolling motor.
I like those a lot. And they are fairly inexpensive - well except for
the Honda - those are a little pricey. I've been thinking of getting
a smaller one to throw around in smaller lakes.
Tossed live shrimp and plastics with a 5' rod, small spinning reel and 6
pound test. Heading out offshore from St. Augustine in about an hour.
Nice rig. 6 lb mono or braid?
Didn't weigh any fish, but the reds were between 25" and 33". Didn't
keep any. Used 6# braid. 4200 and 4300 Penns. Went 30 miles offshore
yesterday, to a few manmade reefs. Forgot how good fishing can be in NE
Florida.
People are going hungry and you throw the fish back? How thoughtful.
