We got back Wednesday night, after a great 6700 mile journey to southern Utah. I
can't believe I've waited this long to see what that place has to offer. We
started with the Colorado National Monument then went on to Arches National Park
and Canyonlands National Park while staying in Moab, UT. We then went to Bryce
Canyon NP, stopping at Capitol Reef NP on the way. Utah Highway 12 is probably
the most scenic of all the 'Scenic Byways' in the United States. We spent four

From Bryce Canyon we went through the Dixie National Forest down to the North
Rim of the Grand Canyon. The North Rim, to me anyway, is much more beautiful

there, we took off for Zion National Park, spending a few days seeing the sights
there. The next stop was Page, AZ, where we took a tour of the Lower Antelope
Canyon. This is another of those otherworldly places that is just beautiful. A
night in Page, and we were on our way to Monument Valley, in the Navajo Nation.
Yes, I bought my turquoise belt buckles and a ring. Typical tourist..

A few days and nights in Monument Valley and we headed for Albuquerque, NM, to
visit my wife's sister. By then we were ready to get home, and put in a few 600
mile days to get here.

Will get some pictures up soon, but have a whole potfull to organize.

If you've not been to southern Utah, it's an experience you should try. The
place is amazing. With all the sights we've seen, I'd go back again tomorrow
just to see the stuff we missed - and we missed a lot!

Excellent, John! And I was so glad to meet you and Mrs. Herring for
lunch. I trust the cat had a great time as well.

Actually, the cat did much better than we'd even hoped for. He just laid back in
the trailer when at a campground, and did very well in the car also. He'd
usually take an hour to settle down in the car, but the meowing wasn't bad. With
my ears, I couldn't hear it anyway!

When you gonna' post the pics and a trip report to a place where the
vulgar children can't handle themselves ??

I may get some posted tonight, if I don't go to sleep first. While gone we had a
damn drought here and my grass is in need of intensive therapy. I busted my butt
de-thatching, spreading soil and seed, and covering the seed over the past
couple days. Can't wait much longer to plant seed 'cause the leaves will be
coming soon.

I'll post the links here with the pics in Photobucket. They may not be boating
related, but at least they won't be stolen owls!
