Cruising in a submarine
In article ,
says...
I think the world under the oceans is much more beautiful than the
ugly world we see each day.
So I think submarine cruises are a huge market for the future with
billions of $$$ to earn.
99% of the world under the oceans is dark and empty. The bottom
is sand, mud and rocks. Not much of interest there for pleasure
cruisers.
The interesting part of the underwater world exists in the
upper 50 meters within a few dozen miles of the shoreline.
That part is pretty easily accessible to folks on surface
vessels.
Even more problematic is the fact that, where interesting
underwater life is abundant, visibility is may be only
a few tens of meters. An underwater cruise would be
about as scenic as cruising the inside passage when every
day is foggy!
Much more practical might be to have an ROV with a fiber-optic
video link follow along with those adventurous enough to go
scuba diving on a tropical reef. Then you could sit back
in a nice lounge with a cold drink and watch the blonde from
cabin 3-C adjust her buouyancy compensators on a big-screen
TV!
