I will be putting the boat up for storage soon, and I can't believe how
quickly the summer has gone. I still haven't been able to use the boat
at all. Damn it all, I wish I wasn't kept so busy with work.
yeah i'm counting the weeks. 7 more weekends and we're done. went
for a nice slow boat ride at dusk today...first night time ride ever.
every nice and quiet. most boaters were dont long before the sun
set...was a nice quiet ride with the wife and 2 poodles..
will miss this summer when it's gone. this is the wife's first boating
experience and she's loving it.
Night boating is really the best but you do need some good local
knowledge of the area. Also be sure you can't see your running lights
from the helm. Once your eyes adjust to the dark, you will be
surprised how well you can see things on the water. Just take it easy
so if you do hit something you don't hit it very hard ;-)
The absolute coolest is around 0300 at sea on a big boat/ship.
I always wanted the mid watch at sea.
You never knew there were that many stars.
If you want to see stars, head the Alps on a clear winter night and
you'll see blankets of stars. It overwhelms the senses.
