Um...actually, President Bush signed this into law. However, I"m not
sure if you have to have one if you live in Maryland as of yet. I
think Maryland is one of the states that had some issues concerning
state registration data handling and a couple of broader issues with
respect to this - these have been resolved, but your license won't
take effect until next year. NOAA has extended the free registration
program for this year so all you have to do is register with NOAA and
you're all set.
Doesn't surprise me that Bush signed it. He did a few other stupid things while
in office.
I suppose I should inform any friends I take out to get themselves registered.
What happened to all the fireworks about national identity cards? Isn't this
the first step? I can just see the guy at the polling place asking me for my
NSAR card before I can vote.
