Ran across this while muddling in the garage. Couldn't, for a
while,
figure out
what the hell it was.
Can you?

Looks sort of like the old tire bubble balancer. But no level
on the
top.
Because I don't do any mechanical work of any kind, even though
I've
taken mechanical engineering courses, I shouldn't know what that
is.
BUT, I watched my mechanic doing the maintenence on my push
lawnmower.
That object is to balance the lawn mower blade after sharpening.
I am not sure which Harry this is but the answer is right.
I'm curious - how do you balance a blade after sharpening?
Well I'll be danged - never thought of balancing the blade after
sharpening.

Never mind. :)
I didn't know there was a do-dad for home handymen to use.
I always balance my blades on a screwdriver shaft. It the two sides
can
point east & west, I've taken the right amount off each side.
Never really had blades sharpened to tell the truth. I put a new set
of blades on every Spring - they last all summer into the Fall and I
change them again.
I can see why you would have to balance the blade after sharpening,
I've just never had to do it.
I could just walk two blocks over and get a professional to sharpen my
blade, but they want $10.00 or so.
Damn. Serious cash, eh?
