Yep, sounds like you and I are looking over the same offerings I'd
mentioned something here about looking at some Cape Dorys; if I can get out
to Annapolis this summer I'll definitely do so. The brokers offering the
Tayana- Higgins- made a sensible suggestion, that being that I not venture
too far afield searching for a boat for under $100K; it might not be cost
effective. Logistically, buying a boat that is halfway across the country
would be a pain the rear anyway. I'll just sit here and be patient

Went out Saturday for some racing. It was pretty enjoyable, I remembered a
lot more than I thought I would, and what I didn't know I asked about. We
did not fare too well in the race, sad to say- the boat has old sails; while
she reaches well she just struggles pointing. Still and all, it was great
fun. I don't think I would care too much to get heavily into (read: boat
purchase) these 10 or so mile races, but multi-day offshore racing would
appeal to me. Loads of nuances involved in this racing thing. Not to
mention loads of money.
